Soul grooves en improvisatie met melodische en poëtische verhaallijnen vanuit het hart; dat mag je van Meika verwachten.

Meika is onder leiding van vocalist en componist Emmie te Pas klaar om hun nieuwste muziek naar buiten te brengen. Emmie is na een periode van bijna twee jaar in New York weer terug in Nederland. In The Big Apple heeft ze zich ondergedompeld in de wereld van de moderne jazz en is ze enorm geïnspireerd geraakt door de muziek die ze daar heeft ervaren. Ze haalt haar inspiratie uit zowel de vocale als instrumentale moderne jazz. Denk hierbij aan Gretchen Parlato, Avishai Cohen en Kneebody. Daarnaast heeft ze altijd al een speciaal plekje in haar hart gehad voor soul; met Jill Scott en Erykah Badu als grote inspiratiebronnen.

We are Meika

Meika, under the guidance of vocalist and composer Emmie te Pas, is ready to present their new music. After spending almost two years in New York City, Emmie is back in the Netherlands. In The Big Apple she submerged in the modern jazz scene and got incredibly inspired by the music she experienced across the Atlantic Ocean. Her inspiration derives from both vocal jazz and instrumental jazz, such as Gretchen Parlato, Avishai Cohen and Kneebody. There’s always been a special place in her heart for soul as well, with Jill Scott and Erykah Badu as some great influences. So what to expect from Meika? A mix of soul grooves and jazz improvisation. Melodic storylines spoken from the heart.
