The Associated is a collective of musicians united by a shared artistic vision, supporting and inspiring each other’s musical journey. Founded by guitarist Fabrizio La Piana and bassist Leon Coenjaarts, with Eva Korse on drums, the band explores a diverse range of sounds, blending various forms, styles, and compositions. 

While rooted in the classic jazz trio format, The Associated push beyond tradition, striving to create a seamless fusion of their individual styles into something truly unique.

Our band was founded in 2023 for a vocal
night project at school, in the Royal
Conservatoire The Hague. Since then
somehow we stayed together for Bettina’s
exam as a band. And then in the last semester
we have also started to work on our own
repertoire which includes a different
approach of the interpretation of jazz
standards and combining jazz with folk
music from our backgrounds. Bettina’s
traditional background is the main thread
in the band’s story, but we also started to
work on Basso’s folk music, from Hong
Kong, which creates a wider possibility of
creating music together, opening new
opportunities and bringing novelty into the color of our work.

Alexander Brott is one of my favorite young players on the scene. His playing is so pure in terms of where he’s coming from and also how personal his approach is. This album is a beautiful representation of his elegant playing and his fantastic writing. Every tune is masterfully constructed and a perfect vehicle for this amazing band.
